I’ve been producing and mixing records for over 20 years, working mainly with artists in alternative, electronic and guitar-based independent music.

What interests me most about making records is helping artists find the strongest version of what they’re trying to do.

Sometimes that means shaping arrangements or experimenting with sound. Other times it simply means creating the right environment so performances can happen naturally.

I’ve worked with hundreds of bands over the years and every project is different, but the aim is always the same — make records that feel honest and true to the artist.

Recording sessions usually take place at Crystal Ship Studio in Sheffield, which is built around an SSL 4000G console. Mixing is done from my own studio, though I’m happy to work from other studios if a project requires it.
